The successful candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma with major studies in the business curriculum and two years of practical experience. Qualified candidates will have strong written and oral communication skills and general business knowledge. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail is essential. The candidate must have extensive computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Quickbooks a plus. Maintenance Assistant/Laborer
Spring Benner Walker Joint Authority is looking to fill the position of Maintenance Assistant/Laborer to assist in the maintenance and repair of the Authority’s sewer system and related work as required.
Description: Maintenance Assistant/Laborer is under the general direction of the Maintenance Crew Leader, this employee is responsible for keeping all sewage equipment and facilities in good working order including the maintenance of related buildings and grounds. Receives assignments and completes work orders for the maintenance and operation of sewage pumping stations, meter pits, sewer lines and laterals and participates in such work. Completes all other tasks deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the Authority.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools and equipment used in mechanical, electrical, and building repair work. Good knowledge of the operation, installation and maintenance of pumps, motors, meters. Thorough knowledge of sewer pumping stations, sewer mains, sewer laterals, fittings, control equipment, meter pits and other equipment used in sewage collection and pumping stations. Ability to receive and give oral and written instructions. Thorough knowledge of safety equipment and its use.
Qualifications: Completion of high school diploma required. Physical ability to perform duties in all weather and working conditions. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Must be able to climb ladders and descend into manholes over twenty feet deep and obtain confined space certification. Ability to obtain a valid PA commercial driver’s license. A PA DEP Certified Water/Wastewater Operator License may be required to be obtained within two years of initial employment.

Board Meeting Time Change Effective 09/23/2024
On September 9, 2024 during the regularly scheduled Spring-Benner-Walker Joint Authority Board Meeting, a motion was passed to change the time of the Board Meetings from 7:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. starting with the next regularly scheduled Board Meeting on September 23, 2024. A legal notice with the new meeting schedule has been advertised with The Lock Haven Express.
